O have you heard of Grimville,

A town as black as pitch,

Where children got so dark of face

That any mother in the place

Could not tell which was which?

And so, when Parents sought their chicks,

They’d sally forth alone

And wash each dirty little brood

Throughout that grimy neighborhood

Until they found their own.
