his interactive map encapsulates work done by the students of Art 440, Venice in its Golden Age, Fall 2007. The aim of this interdisciplinary seminar was to explore the art and architecture of Renaissance Venice in the context of its rich cultural heritage and unique political and social system. While Venice and its lagoon constituted the primary focus of the seminar, our study extended to important mainland centers such as Vicenza and the villas designed by Andrea Palladio. Attention was also be given to the antecedents and extended legacy of Venetian Renaissance art and architecture. Following a trip to Venice during fall recess, students collaborated on the creation of images and descriptions that can be found within this map.
